EFL Chairman and CEO GEWOBAG Berlin advocate diversification Dutch housing associations
In an article in the Dutch Financieel Dagblad on 10 July 2014 (compare Financial Times), EFL Chairman Ben Pluijmers and Board Director Hendrik Jellema of the German public housing company GEWOBAG (Berlin), support a diversification of company forms for Dutch ‘Woningcorporaties’. They state that the only possible form in the Netherlands, the foundation, doesn’t match enough with the wide diversity of size and goals of the ‘woningcorporaties’.
They write “in stead of old “one size fits all” solutions -like the foundation- there are more and better solutions to get the outer world inside’. Shareholders are a possible form.
Foreign examples from Germany, France or UK, show company models like the cooperation, limited company or listed company as effective alternative.
