EFL joined an application consortium lead by the French expertise institute Nobatek for a Horizon 2020 Call on energy savings. Participating EFL members include Vilogia (France, Lille) and TU Delft (Netherlands).

The project acronym is OPTIMISER. The project is focussed on improving the energy efficiency of existing buildings through a combined approach of planned renovations and energy efficiency measures.

OPTIMISER will pioneer an innovative, incremental approach to delivering the deep energy efficient retrofit of an entire Social Housing Organisation’s housing stock as an integral part of their overall asset management strategy. This will primarily be achieved by coinciding energy efficient improvements with investment in existing planned maintenance and repairs activities that contribute to the achievement of identified future performance targets.

Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) – in addition to the private investment that this money will attract. It promises more breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market. More info about Horizon 2020 <a href=HERE.

The result of the application of the project OPTIMISER is expected in the second half of 2015.
