Living Future Europe is dedicated to redefining the built environment to support a thriving ecological and social system. Buildings account for 40% of final energy consumption and 36% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions in the EU, yet 75% remain energy-inefficient. Construction waste represents 32% of total waste, and the sector is responsible for 30% of global biodiversity loss. The environmental and social impacts extend beyond these figures, with the construction industry leading in forced labor risks and safety concerns. Despite decades of sustainability initiatives, the dominant industry approach remains linear, inefficient, and harmful. We believe it’s time to move beyond incremental improvements and embrace a regenerative vision that transforms the built environment from a source of harm to a catalyst for positive change.
