Webinar When cities are ‘full’:  topping-up, filling-in, and office conversion strategies for affordable housing in France and the Netherlands

Building on our recent session with speakers from Germany, the UK and the Republic of Ireland, we hear from experts in France and the Netherlands on strategies to achieve new affordable housing supply where sites are scarce. They include converting vacant offices, topping up exisiting residences with new floors, filling in corners with new apartments, dividing large homes, adding modular units to residential sites, and more. We explore the pitfalls and benefits of these strategies, focusing on ways to win the support of existing residents and improve communal facilties in densifying estates. We also learn about the planning and policy changes supporting waves of these new projects in Paris and Amsterdam – cities that are full!
