EU Project Zero Emission Neighborhoods open for EFL members

by | Sep 13, 2018

Housing Europe is involved in a EU project on, increasingly important, Zero Emission Neighbourhoods. Having already identified members (of members) of Housing Europe that want to be involved in testing the innovation during pilot projects (in Estonia, Norway, Italy). Since the solutions need to be adapted to different climatic regions we are still looking for pilots in countries/regions with a marine or oceanic climate: NL (coast), FR (coast), Spain (Northern coast) and Portugal (coast). Also German members are invited to reflect.

We are looking for a housing provider with energy renovation plans involving several buildings in the same neighbourhood (planned around 2020). Please, find more details on ZEN (Zero Energy Neighbourhoods) in the document attached that can be shared with interested housing organization from your membership. Housing Europe will be actively involved as partner and work mainly on the dissemination and communication activities.

Although the deadline is 21.02.2019, the project proposal is now in the phase to identify and select the pilot projects. Therefore, the pilot projects will be involved within the coming months and we invite you to react as soon as possible. Interested housing provider are asked to fill in the short form included here and send it back to us Niki to evaluate if it would be suitable as demonstration site.

The ZEN project will have a duration of 6 years and, if accepted, will benefit from EU funding that will cover all the eligible man hours that the involved housing organization puts in the project and all the extra costs involved in the renovation works needed to meet the project’s ambitious targets. The duration of the project is relatively long, which allows to fine-tune the solutions and track the outcomes.

The project is prepared by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the Research Centre on Zero Emission Neighbourhoods in Smart Cities (ZEN Centre) http://fmezen.com/
