Housing Association 1892’s DREEAM Project in movie available
Some 60 representatives from public and social housing providers from all across the EU attended the DREEAM Final Event that took place on 2-3 September 2019 in Berlin. The DREEAM project stands for ‘Demonstrating an integrated Renovation approach for Energy Efficiency At the Multi-building scale’.
The event was a great opportunity for the DREEAM Project Consortium to present to the broader public the experiences and lessons learnt over this ambitious 4-year project that involved 16 partners – including 3 housing providers – from 7 EU countries.
EFL member ‘1892’ is one of the project partners and took part with a renovation and new construction project in Berlin. The project is located at the Neckelbeckplatz. See the movie HERE.
The Nettelbeckplatz Pilot Site is an experimental and innovative renewal of a cooperative housing estate from the 1970s managed by 1892, one of the oldest and largest housing cooperatives in Berlin, with a building portfolio of over 6.800 units across the city and over 16.000 members. The project was the combination of several measures such as the refurbishment of former housing stock following energy efficiency standards, social and function-mix combining residential with art & crafts studios, shared spaces, and common facilities for seniors and participation of the local community. 1892 provide additional 4.200 m2 of living space generated through the re-design without affecting the size or the quality of the existing public areas in the court-yard. Residents have been involved and consulted all along the project.
