Setlementtiasunnot Oy is founded in 2000 and it is owned by the Finnish Federation of Settlement Houses and Kalliola Settlement.
Setlementtiasunnot Oy builds and manages rental and right-of-occupancy apartments. There are about 1400 apartments in six different areas. New buildings are planned in Turku and Joensuu. Every tenement block has itse own community worker.
Setlementtiasunnot Oy has an affiliate company Setlementtiasumisoikeus Oy, founded in 2008, right-of-occupancy appartments are meant for residents over 55 years.
The community worker
Every tenement block has its own community worker who knows all the tenants and works with them on daily basis. The community worker has an education and knowledge in social or health services and provides support to tenants and encourages them to participate in common activities. The community worker also intervenes immediately in rent debts and disturbing living with administration. Every tenement block has a common living room, where tenants can meet each other and spend time together.
Rental apartments
Setlementtiasunnot Oy has about 1000 rental apartments in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Hyvinkää and Tampere. The apartments are 70 % one-room flats, average size in 42 m2, state-subsidized rental housing, anyone over 18 years can apply.
We offer reasonably priced, high quality housing in healthy, safe and comfortable environment. Our target groups are:
– people with small and middle incomes (property limits determined by central government)
– single applicants
– people in urgent need of an apartment (priority list)
– special groups that need assistance in tenancy, for example people with a backround of homelessness
