ACER Reggio Emilia celebrates its centenary in a historical period of profound social
transformations, accelerated by the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic.
People’s needs – expressed and unexpressed – take on a new centrality and the potential
value of each becomes authentic wealth for the life of the community; ACER and other
housing providers are aware of this potential.
Urban and social redevelopment programs, carried out on behalf of the Municipalities in
recent decades, with huge public and private investments, were aimed at delivering
efficient neighbourhoods in terms of quality, health and comfort.
Citizens, institutions, associations and organizations are working in an integrated way to
achieve the same goal: to create architectural and social innovation processes, based on
people and community’s needs.
In this context, the conference aims at starting a dialogue that could lead to the definition
of a form of “social certification”, along the model of energy and environmental
certifications.
Social infrastructure, support and care actions, open discussions with citizens, co-planning
and co-programming, are also concepts of the New European Bauhaus: knowledge,
understanding and beauty that, through a circular economy, build living and liveable
neighbourhoods.
Acer Reggio Emilia and public and social housing providers are the ideal candidates to
promote a social planning where knowledge, education and training are indispensable
prerequisites for the construction of an effective and sustainable welfare.
This conference aims at exploring European experiences and local realities to secure
adequate responses to diversified needs by identifying new solutions and strategies
